arquitecto DESA París / mas UD ETH Zúrich

After living for many years in the surreal Mexico City, he obtained his bachelor's and master's degree in Architecture at the École Spéciale d'Architecture (ESA) in Paris, as well as a master's degree in Advanced Studies in Urban Design at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich. In his beginnings as an architect, he worked in different architectural offices such as JSa (Javier Sánchez, Mexico City), EMBT (Miralles-Tagliabue, Barcelona) or Manuel Herz Architekten (Basel). In Cuenca, he leads the Surrealestudio office between 2019 and 2021.

Currently, in parallel to independent professional practice, which includes association in different projects with some of the offices mentioned above, he works (since 2011) as a professor and researcher at the Universidad del Azuay, in Cuenca, where he is in charge of subjects such as Architectural studio, Built environment and History and Theory of Architecture.

  • 2022. National Award at the Panamerican Biennial of Architecture of Quito, BAQ 2022, Equipment category. Rioquinto, home for the elderly. With Surreal Estudio Arquitectura

  • 2020. National Award at the Panamerican Biennial of Architecture of Quito, BAQ 2021, Books category. Book 1947, with Universidad del Azuay. 

  • 2018. Master's project exhibited at the Biennial of Rabat, Morocco and at the Institut du Monde Arabe, Paris.

  • 2013. Special Recognition CIAF (International Council of French Architects) At the International Forum of Young Architects in Kosice, Slovakia. Project '50 shades of green'.

  • 2010. Master project finalist in the competition of best projects at the Academy of Architecture of Paris, urban category.

  • 2009. Degree project with recognition and congratulations from the jury.
